Member of winning team for Level II math/physics/chemistry intercollegiate event organized by the MESA program.
Extracurricular Activities
iBotics Administrative Team Lead
Responsible for overseeing administrative functions such as developing the team website, marketing, graphic design, production of promotional items, management of member benefits, and the fulfillment of other operational needs of the organization. Also assist with mechanical and electrical engineering and programming (see EE & NN Design Projects below).
Computer Interfacing Design Project
Designed and constructed an automatically adjusting digital laser inclinometer. Based on accelerometer data and various user controlled inputs, an Atmel microcontroller controlled two LCD displays, a stepper motor and a linear laser.
Ubiquitous Computing Design Project
Worked in a two person team to design and implement an application for the Apple iPhone that adjusts the ringtone volume based on the current activity level of the user by sampling and analyzing data from the embedded accelerometer.
Electrical Engineering Design Project
Worked in a team of three to design and prototype a custom sonar sampling and processing board to be used on the San Diego iBotics AUV. Board conditions 3-channels of hydrophone signals through instrumentation amplifiers and programmable band-pass filters. Signals are then sampled through a 12-bit ADC onto an Atmel microcontroller.
Neural Network Design Project
Built for use with Custom Sonar Board project (see EE Design Project above) to translate time difference of arrivals (TDOA’s) of the sonar signal into relative positioning data. A neural network approach was used given the complex and highly non-linear relationship between the TDOA’s and relative position.
Engineering Research Symposium
Presented mathematical and engineering research conducted for Autonomous Underwater Vehicle project at San Diego City College.
Current Employment
Research Assistant/Webmaster
Institute for Non-Linear Science, University of California, San Diego
Assisted in development of odor sensing and tracking robot. Responsible for creating and maintaining INLS website.
Previous Employment
Customer Repair/Refurbish Technician
Sony Electronics
Repaired desktop and laptop computer systems to manufacturer’s specifications. Job duties included diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing malfunctioning PC’s and laptops, ordering and installing replacement hardware, and training new technicians.
R&D Process Operator
Hewlett-Packard
Built prototypical inkjet cartridges under research and development both manually and with semiautomated tools in a clean room environment. Job duties included preparing and conducting experiments for engineers, gathering and analyzing data for process evaluation, documenting procedures and specifications, and analyzing procedures for efficiency, consistency, and process improvement.
Mechanical Technician
ATS Systems, Oregon
Assembled high-precision automated tools, mostly prototypical, for technology-oriented companies worldwide. Job duties included reading and revising technical schematics; and constructing, calibrating, and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems. Required working directly with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers in the development and integration of these systems.
